In her formative years, Shelby's passion for storytelling unfolded in the margins of her notebooks, evolving into a full-fledged endeavor with the advent of her first computer at the age of twelve. As she embarked on her journey into high school, fate led her to the nationally acclaimed TV Production program at Seminole Ridge Community High School (SRHS), where her beloved characters seamlessly leapt from the pages of her imagination to the vibrant canvases of the screen. This marked the genesis of Shelby's foray into the dynamic world of live show producing.
Enrolling in film and news production classes, Shelby delved into the intricacies of writing, producing, directing, and editing an array of content—from short films and music videos to public service announcements, documentaries, and news packages. Her senior year witnessed a triumphant culmination of her skills as she assumed the roles of an executive producer, lead director, reporter, and show editor, leaving an indelible mark on the SRHS TV Production Honor Society.
Before donning the cap and gown, Shelby earned accolades such as the South Florida Student Showcase of Film's Burt Reynolds Scholarship and the Suzanne L. Niedland Documentary Award for her documentary, "Save Our Seas." Her exemplary work in TV production not only garnered recognition but also secured the prestigious Palm Beach Post's 1st Place Pathfinder in Communications.
Post-high school, Shelby pursued her passion at The University of Florida, majoring in Media Production, Management, and Technology with a specialization in Digital Television and Film. A standout opportunity presented itself when she secured a coveted spot in a special study focused on 360 video production. Shelby's proficiency in operating 360 cameras and editing immersive content culminated in a Silver Telly Award-winning music video, "Rolling The Dice."
In the Fall of 2022, Shelby's trajectory took an exciting turn when she was invited to join a cutting-edge Live Sports Production class, leading to the creation of the captivating live sports show, "Reptile Report." Recognizing her talent and dedication, she was later appointed as the Teacher's Assistant (TA) and producer for subsequent semesters. In this capacity, Shelby orchestrates a dynamic team of 20 students, blending reporters and behind-the-scenes crew members to craft compelling live productions.
Simultaneously, Shelby's commitment to her academic community earned her a coveted spot in the College of Journalism and Communication's Ambassadors program. As a college ambassador, she guides prospective students and supports her peers as a tutor. The fruits of her labor manifested in consecutive Randolph A. Hearst Broadcast News Awards, a testament to her exceptional contributions.
Further cementing her commitment to excellence, Shelby was selected for The College of Journalism and Communications' Combination Degree program. This unique opportunity allows her to concurrently pursue her Bachelor's Degree in Media Production, Management, and Technology and her Master's Degree in Mass Communications, propelling her toward her ultimate goal—a thriving career in the exhilarating realm of producing.
